I am a multimedia artist based in Oxford, England.
My training was in graphic design. I studied in London, before moving to live and work in New York, where I designed record covers and book jackets, magazines and products.
Design was all about seeing 'the space in between’ – particularly in typography – where the positive and negative spaces are essential to being able to 'read’ the text through black and white value. This is the ‘value’ that punctuates the work that I do to this day.
My work has evolved through photography, drawing and watercolours, and slowly through every available medium. Photographs are still a big part of my work, as are paintings of domestic scenes, and treasured found objects. Now I am finally able to work on a larger scale in my studio, and make collages.
I work in mixed media and oils, incorporating my library of photographs, flora and fauna, and lost and found scraps of paper, all of which can finally find a resting place.
